ABU DHABI, DEC 23, 2000 (WAM)--The Central Bank will today issue commemorative silver coins of Dh 50 and Dh 25 denominations, and another commemorative dirham, on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the Dubai Islamic Bank. The faces of both the silver coins show an inscription of the country's name in both Arabic and English along with the denomination, according to reports in the UAE's dailies. The obverse sides of both coins as well as the dirham feature the logo of the occasion. The Dh 50 silver coin, an alloy of 92.5 per cent silver and 7.5 per cent copper, is of 40mm diameter and weighs 40 grams. The Dh25 silver coin, also an alloy of the same composition, has a diameter of 28mm and weighs 20 grams. The dirham coin is an alloy of 75 per cent copper and 25 per cent nickel, and has a diameter of 24 mm and weight of 6.4 grams. The silver coins can be purchased at teller counters at the Dubai Islamic Bank, at their face value, plus a nominal premium of Dh17 for the Dh50 coin and Dh15 for the Dh25 coin. The dirham coin will be put into circulation through the Dubai Islamic Bank as well, according to the reports. WAM-VV
