WAM ABU DHABI, Oct. 15th, 2009: H.H Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, Chairperson of General Women's Union received today new female ambassadors to the UAE, wives of the newly accredited ambassadors to the UAE, wives of the members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the international organizations. At the meeting in Rawdhat Al-Reef, Sheikha Fatima stressed her keen interest in continuous contacts with the guests to discuss coordination and cooperation between the UAE and other countries on women's issues. She expressed appreciation of role played by the female ambassadors and wives of the ambassadors and representatives of international organizations to further promote dialogue among civilizations and peaceful coexistence by all people of the world. For their part, the guest thanked Sheikha Fatima for the meeting which is held annually. They also hailed Sheikha Fatima's consistent support to UAE and Arab women and their causes at Arab, regional and international circles for 30 years. They also lauded Sheikha Fatima's initiative to establish the UAE's General Women's Union 34 years ago as a living testimony to her support to women. They also noted Sheikha Fatima's initiative to establish the UAE's Higher Council for Maternity and Childhood, an entity aimed at raising the standards of care and follow-up for motherhood, childhood welfare and to provide educational, cultural, health, social and psychological support. Present at the meeting were Sheikha Salama Bint Hamdan, wife of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikha Shamsa Bint Hamdan, wife of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, Sheikha Shamma Bint Zayed, wife of H.H Sheikh Sorour Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Sheikha Al-Yaziya Bint Saif, wife of H.H Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Affairs Minister, Sheikha Aisha Bint Suhail, female ministers, wives of ministers, female members of the Federal National Council.
