Alyazia Bint Saif meets First Ladies of Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq

WAM Rome, Nov 16th, 2009 (WAM): Sheikha Alyazia Bint Saif Al Nahyan, wife of UAE Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, met here today with Suzanne Mubarak, wife of Egyptian President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak, Leila Ben Ali, wife of Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and Hero Ibrahim Ahmed, wife of Iraqi President Jalal Talabani. Sheikha Alyazia is in Rome to participate in the second Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit For First Ladies as per directives from HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the UAE General Women's Union (GWU) and Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation. Sheikh Alyazia conveyed the greetings of Sheikha Fatima to the First Ladies of Egypt, Tunisia and Iraq. She said that the Arab participation in the Women's Summit of the Non-Aligned Countries at this level emphasizes the progress of Arab women in all fields that concern women on the global level. The First Ladies of Egypt, Tunisia and Iraq praised the efforts made by HH Sheikha Fatima for the progress of Arab women and hailed the achievements of UAE women in various fields. They also held in high esteem, the directives of Sheikha Fatima to provide assistance to developing countries to implement projects, especially targeting welfare of children in these countries. UAE's major contributions for these projects as per directives from President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan reflected the commitment and concern for child welfare in developing and NAM countries, they noted. Sheikha Alyazia held talks with the First Ladies of Egypt, Tunisia and Iraq on the important issues the NAM summit discussed, including the global food security, climate change and financial crisis.
