Hazza bin Zayed attends finals of Abu Dhabi Judo Grand Prix

Abu Dhabi, 21 Nov. 2009 (WAM) - H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council attended this evening at Al Jazira Club the closing day of the Abu Dhabi Judo Grand Prix, which was contested by teams from 38 countries. The French team won the championship's title after raising its tally to five medals, including three gold and two bronze. It was followed by the Hungarian team which collected three medals, two gold and one bronze. The Japanese team landed the third place with 6 medals, including one gold, three silver and two bronze. Sheikh Hazza applauded the event's huge success. The event was organised by the UAE Wrestling, Judo and Jiu-Jitsu Association, in collaboration with the ADSC, under the supervision of the International Judo Federation (IJF). He said that Abu Dhabi's hosting of major sport championships, including the Formula 1, the Red Bull Championship and the Judo Grand Prix, reflected the international federations' confidence in the UAE ability for organising such events. Sheikh Hazza expressed the hope that Al Ahli Club, UAE's representative during the FIFA Club World Cup, will make an impressive appearance that reflects the progressive standards of UAE football.
