WAM Abu Dhabi, Nov 22nd, 2009 (WAM)--Emirates World Mobile Humanitarian Hospital has concluded successfuly its four-month preventive, curative, surgical and training medical mission in South Sudan, where it received 6, 500 patients in South Sudan.

The medical mission was instructed by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of Ruler in Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) to provide treatment to the needy patients.

The hospital scored distinguished success in its first successful medical mission abroad, a move that would spur its future mobile medical missions in other regions worldwide.

Commenting on the successful occlusion of the medical mission, Khadeem Al Daraei, head of the Emirates Mobile Hospital, said the medical teams during their existence in South Sudan, organised seven field visits in the remote areas, adding that the ureter of 1, 845 patients, who suffered from different diseases have been diagnosed and provided with the medicines free.

He thanked the medical, technical and administrative cadres at the mobile hospital for their diligent efforts, adding that they worked in one spirit to achieve tremendous job in which they treated thousands of the needy patients.

On his part, Abdul Aziz Yusuf Al Mahmoud, Charge De Affairs of UAE Embassy in Sudan, who visited the mobile hospital in Juba city on behalf of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, thanked all the medical cadres for their valuable efforts over the last four months, adding that their great task of providing the treatment to the needy achieved the very objectives of the hospital.

Dr Adel Al Shameri, Chairman of the Zayed Charity Initiative and Executive Director of Emirates Moblie Hospital, elaborated the medical functions performed by the surgeons and consultants, adding that hundreds of surgeries, including eye, paediatric surgeries, larynx and bones surgeries were conducted successfully. Dr Adel added that the integrated heart section was set up at the hospital.

He noted that 43 international doctors, including consultants from rare specialisations, radiology, lab and dentistry technicians worked with the mobile hospital in Juba as per plans and schedules.

Brig. Mohammed Al Junaibi, director of the medical services at Abu Dhabi Police, said the mobile hospital "is an exemplary joint humanitarian work and model for genuine partnership among the public institutions, private corporations and non profitable organisations locally and abroad. He added that the hospital proved beyond doubt its success in South Sudan.

He reiterated keenness of Abu Dhabi police to further provide the administrative and logistical support to the hospital in line with the instructions of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister.

Minister of Health in South Sudan HE Joseph Monytuil Wejang, thanked the UAE government and people for their humanitarian stances towards the Sudanese people. He thanked Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed for his instructions to commence the medical mission of Emirates mobile hospital in South Sudan.

Professor Juan Carlos Chachqas, heart surgeon in France and Director of Mobile Hospital, lauded the success of the medical mission in South Sudan, citing the valuable support of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed as huge boost to the success attained there.

Many contributed to the mobile hospital, including the ministries of Health, Interior, Foreign Affairs, UAE Armed Forces, private corporations and non profitable bodies, the National Authority for Emergencies and Crises Management, Abu Dhabi Police, Health Authority-Abu Dhabi, RCA, the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Charity and Humanitarian Works Foundation, the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity Foundation, Zakat Fund, Emirates World Heart Group, Emirates News Agency (WAM), Abu Dhabi TV, the National Training Foundation, Emirates Voluntary Academy, Emirates Group for Corporate Social Responsibility and Emirates Voluntary Centre, Abu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Advanced Integrated System, Emirates Heart Centre and Emirates Social Responsibility Group.
