WAM New York, Dec 02nd, 2009 (WAM)--The UAE has held Israel accountable over incessant failure of the peace process, warning it about potential repercussions, which ensue from disappointment of Palestinians about unfulfilled repetitive peace promises. UAE Ambassador Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, UAE Permanent Representative to United Nations, said here last light in special meeting of the UN General Assembly, on discussion of the two clauses on Palestine and the Middle East, that the international community is aware of 61 years of the Palestinian people's suffering and deprivation since 1948 due to the Israeli occupation and repetitive violations of the human rights and international law". He added that half of the Palestinian population lives in exile as refugees. Al Jarman underscored that the UAE is worried about continuous deterioration in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. He added that the UAE condemns all the Israeli policies and aggression, adding that Israel has so far escaped from punishment in the light of its war crimes against humanity in Gaza Strip and blockade measures. He called on the international community, UN Security Council, members of international quartet and other organisations to double their efforts and pressures on Israel to stop aggression on Palestinians, adhere to the international demands and rectify the illegal current situating, including the wall, separating the West Bank and Jerusalem as per the international resolutions in this respect. Al Jarman urged the international community to implement the Goldstone Recommendations on Gaza to establish and specify those responsible about the war crimes against humanity in Gaza and bring them to books as per UN General Assembly resolution number 10/64.
