Dubai Attorney General demands death penalty for child killer

WAM Dubai,Dec 16th, 2009 (WAM) - Dubai Attorney General Essam Issa Al Humaidan has referred the accused killer of a four year old Pakistani boy to the criminal court asking the court to sentence him to death in accordance with the federal penal code. The 30-year old Emirati suspect has been charged with premeditated murder associated with sexual assault. Humaidan said that the heinous crime that shocked the community is inconsistent with the values and traditions of our society and moved the feelings of every individual. It was early morning on the Eid-al-Adha day the body of the toddler was found in the toilet of a neighbourhood mosque. Within hours of the incident the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation in Dubai managed to track down the suspect, who admitted to the crime and re-enacted his inhuman offence. According to the First Prosecutor Yusuf Foulad, who investigated the crime, the accused took the boy to the secluded place promising him Eid gift, assaulted him sexually, smashed his head against the toilet floor when the boy screamed, covered his mouth for long to silence him and ran away leaving the victim lifeless behind. The Attorney-General thanked the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation for arresting the culprit in an amazingly fast manner. The Dubai Public prosecution has compiled a number of evidence and technical reports to substantiate the charge and the court is expected to try the case shortly. WAM/AB
