Dubai, Dec 16th, 2009 (WAM)-- Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, accompanied by four ministers and a number of senior state officials made an inspectional tour today to the Eastern Region, where he inspected the educational, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and housing projects across a number of emirates. Sheikh Mohammed visited the Al-Maseer Girls School in Shuwaib region in the Al Ain Education Zone and met the principal, teachers and pupils there. He then left for al-Madam region in the emirate of Sharjah, where he visited the Madam Healthcare Centre, and inspected the facilities there. Sheikh Mohammed talked to the medics and paramedics at the healthcare centre and ensured that the facilities are keeping desired standard. Accompanied by Minister of Public Works HE Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Cabinet Affairs HE Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister of Health HE Dr. Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education HE Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami and Commander of Dubai Police Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Sheikh Mohammed then visited the Al-Madam Secondary School for Boys. He was received by the education officials of the region, the principal and pupils of the school. He then inspected the Dubai-Fujairah highway, which is being built at a cost of AED 1.4bn, and conversed with the engineers on the progress of the project. The project to be completed by the second half of 2011 will reduce the travel time between Dubai and Fujairah by 40 minutes. Sheikh Mohammed then visited the Al-Dhaid Hospital in the emirate of Sharjah and toured various sections of the hospital. The hospital caters to the inhabitants of the Al-Dhaid City and the suburbs in the central region of the emirate of Sharjah. His next stop was at the offices of the ministry of environment and water in the central region, where he inspected a number of models of seedlings ready for distribution among the farmers. The newly developed seedlings are expected to consume less water for irrigation. Sheikh Mohammed lauded the efforts and researches behind these new breeds of seedlings. He also listened to the engineers who gave a brief explanation about the dams beings planned by the ministry across various parts of the country. Sheikh Mohammed also visited schools in the region, and then went to the emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain, where he inspected the houses built under the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme. He also visited Falaj Al Mualla Healthcare Centre and Falaj Al Mualla Secondary school for Girls. All along his tour, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid was warmly greeted by the citizens, who expressed their happiness and pride over the visit. WAM/AB
