WAM Dubai, March 8th, 2010 (WAM) -- Dubai Media City (DMC) today announced it currently hosts over 170 event management companies, underlining its status as a key destination for organising a diverse portfolio of events.

With a thriving leisure and entertainment segment, DMC additionally hosts companies with a focus on live entertainment, sports management and promotion, conference and exhibitions, and performing arts management.

The announcement came on the sidelines of the eighth edition of the Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival 2010. Dubai Media City has been the official home of the festival since its inception in 2003.

Originally organised by Chillout Production as a relatively small festival, Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival has grown into one of the most glamorous and eagerly-awaited events of the year. It owes much of its success to the overall offerings of DMC and the state-of-the-art infrastructure in Dubai.

Some of the globally renowned events and entertainment management companies such as AEG Live Middle East, Live Nation Middle East and Wizcraft International Entertainment Ltd. are based in Dubai Media City.

Mohammad Abdullah, Executive Director, Dubai Media City, said: "Our focus on this fast growing sector is in line with Dubai Government's strategy to drive Dubai as the region's �entertainment hub'.

One upcoming event to look forward to is the Taste of Dubai, that will be held from 17-20 March. One of the must-attend events in the UAE, last year's edition drew the participation of world-famous chefs from the city's most-acclaimed restaurants who created a spectacular array of culinary delights for a memorable four days.

Meanwhile, the much-anticipated Dubai Mega Mela, to be held from 1 - 3 April at the DMC Amphitheatre, will offer a mix of the finest Asian cuisine, stunning designer fashion and catwalk shows, a showcase of authentic crafts and traditions of the Indian Subcontinent and musical entertainment.
