WAM Ajman, March 8th, 2010 (WAM) -- Dubai Quality Group (DQG) and Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC) organized today a workshop about the standards of "Emirates Women Award" and the participation's mechanisms in it.

The workshop was held at the headquarters of Ajman Business Women (ABWC) Council in the presence of a large audience of business and professional women in the country.

The workshop started by a speech addressed by Eng. Aisha Khalfan bin Badr, chairman of ABWC, followed by a presentation about the award's criteria by Ms. Thana'a Tabi'e, organizational excellence consultant in DQG.

On the other hand, Sheikha Azza Bint Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, award winner of the leadership category in 2008, presented her personal experience as a leading national woman who has a professional contributions in enhancing UAE women's status and emphasizing the ability of women in accomplishing achievements and success in various fields of the scientific and practical life, besides, focusing on strategic planning in leadership.

Mrs. Samia Al Yousuf, executive director of DQG, said: "This workshop is the first step of series of events intended to be launched by DQG until the end of March. The events will introduce the award's objectives and urge the nationals and expatriates women to participate in the award in order to improve their opportunities at the managerial and professional levels." Al Yousuf emphasized that the group will provide the essential support to business and professional women in order to enable them to participate in the award and to meet their desired objectives. Moreover, she praised the important role of the UAE leadership and its government in supporting women and providing the possible means to enable them to participate in the development of society.

EWA strives to shed light on the distinctive contributions of business and professional women to find some kind of equal opportunities in order to build a better society and reach the sustainable development. Winners are chosen on a basis of precise criteria and standards such as: leadership, future goals, financial performance, professional and functional achievements, social contributions and innovation.

The award aims at encouraging women to participate in the process of economic development in the country as well as focusing on the contributions of the leading feminine models in order to motivate women to make use from their potentials and experiences.
