WAM DOHA, March 10th, 2010: The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizes the principle of development for all nations, UAE Minister of State Reem Al-Hashemi stressed.

The UAE is at the forefront of donating countries and providers of supports for development efforts worldwide, she said in a speech at the "Conference in Support of Development and Investment in Comoros" held in the Qatari capital between March 9th and 10th.

The UAE, she added, adopts a development policy which aims at establishing development and stability all over the world.

Based on this approach, the UAE has provided financial assistance, via Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), to fund infrastructure projects in the Comoro Islands, she noted.

Some of the UAE-funded projects in the Comoro Islands are still under construction, she remarked.

In her speech, Al-Shamsi announced a US$ 10 million grant funding from the UAE to the Comoro Islands as a contribution to the development and reconstruction efforts in the Arab country.

The grant, she said, is upon directives from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The UAE was represented to the meeting by Minister of State Dr Maitha Al-Shamsi, senior officials from the Foreign Ministry, representatives of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) and UAE ambassador to Doha Abdul Redha Abdulla Khouri.
