WAM Nicosia, July 29th, 2010 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister yesterday met with Marios Garoyian, President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus here in the capital Nicosia and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing joint cooperation.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah also invited the President of the House of Representatives to visit UAE.

In Nicosia, Sheikh Abdullah delivered a lecture to the heads of diplomatic missions in Cyprus and Cypriot representatives of the diplomatic corps abroad.

The Cyprus Foreign Ministry officials told "WAM" that this is the first time that a Foreign Minister of a friendly country is invited to deliver a lecture to the members of the diplomatic corps in Cyprus and abroad.

In his lecture Sheikh Abdullah highlighted UAE's efforts in the development of energy sources and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

He also reiterated UAE's economy strength, which is one of the strongest in the region.

Moreover , he reviewed the peace process in the Middle East and UAE's keenness to make the Middle East a zone free of mass destruction weapons.
