National Council of Tourism ''&'' Antiquities affirms UAE's preparation to present files of cultural and natural sites to UNESCO -rpt-

WAM Dubai, 30 Oct., 2012 (WAM)-- Director General of the National Council of Tourism and Antiquities Mohammed Khamis Al Muhairi affirmed importance of the workshop, to be organized here tomorrow under the patronage of Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Chairman of the Council, which aims to train supervisors on the preliminary list of cultural and natural sites files in the UAE.

Al Muhairi, in a statement for Emirates News Agency (WAM) said the event which will be held in cooperation with ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, created by UNESCO) aims to shed light on the cultural and natural sites in the UAE scheduled to be included in the list of World Heritage of the UNESCO.

He stated that the Council continues its efforts in this regard since UAE has obtained the approval to register six sites in the country in UNESCO World Heritage List.

Al Muhairi stressed that the approval of the UNESCO is considered one of the most important events in the UAE because it highlights the efforts of the Council in promoting the country's archaeological sites.
