Nahyan named Honorary Chairman of Council on Arab Relations with Latin America and the Caribbean
ABU DHABI: Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, will be the Honorary Chairman of the Council on Arab Relations with Latin America and the Caribbean, a body created to conceptualize, direct and facilitate further development of an Arab-Latin American partnership.
The announcement was made at the Arab-Latin American Forum which concluded today in Abu Dhabi. The forum was organized by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE) and the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU).
Economic, political and social leaders from Latin America and the Arab world convened at the forum which designed to help develop a strategic vision for an enhanced partnership on issues of mutual concern to both regions Dr. Leonel Fernandez, former President of the Dominican Republic and President of FUNGLODE, will serve as Chair of the 20-member Council.
The immediate creation of the Council on Arab Relations with Latin America and the Caribbean was also recommended by participants at the forum.
