WAM MARRAKECH: The foundation stone of the US$40 million Marrakech Health Care City, in Marrakech, Morocco, a project by UAE-based TASWEEK Real Estate Marketing '&' Development, was laid Thursday in an official ceremony. 

The project, which will the largest health and tourist project in Morocco and will be completed in 24 months, will be up to 21,000m2 in size, including a 160-bed hospital, a 40-room boutique hotel, 56 residential apartments, gardens and a swimming pool.

The hospital will receive around 5000 patients annually and will provide residence for their families and friends.

According to the CEO of Tasweek, Masood Al-Awar, choosing Morocco was based on Marrakech's natural and tourist advantages as well as on its highly-qualified medical doctors and staff.

The ceremony was attended by the Wali (governor) of the Marrakech, Tensift Al Haouz, other Moroccan officials, UAE diplomats and a number of businessmen.

Al-Awar thanked the ambassador of the UAE to Morocco Al-Asri Al-Daheri for supporting emirati businessmen in order to increase the UAE's investment in Morocco as well as trade between the two countries.
