WAM Amman, Jan 12th, 2013 (WAM)--United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has welcomed the initiative of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the provision of humanitarian aid to the Syrian refugees in Jordan.

Jordanian News Agency (Petra) said Andrew Harper, UNHCR representative to Jordan welcomed the move and referred to the depth of strategic relations between the UAE and UNHCR in service of the Syrian refugees in Jordan.

He added that the UAE has so far provided $25 million as relief and humanitarian assistance to the Syrian refugees in Jordan.
