ADNOC Concludes Successful Participation in WFES 2013
WAM ABU DHABI, Jan 17th, 2013 (WAM)--The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) '&' its Group of Companies concluded their successful participation in the World Future Energy Summit which wrapped up its activities at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) yesterday.
The company, participating as a principal sponsor under the theme "Thinking Sustainably.. Acting Responsibly", made its felt in both the exhibition and the summit's side events.
On the closing day, ADNOC's stand was visited by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research who was briefed on the Group's key sustainability initiatives and ongoing projects that aim at reducing the carbon footprint and ensuring a sustainable future for the country. The stand was also visited by Sheikh Diab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan who listened to a briefing on ADNOC's green initiatives and projects.
High level delegates led by Abdulla Nasser Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADNOC and Group companies CEOs and senior executives took part in the event.
As a socially-responsible national company, ADNOC brought to light many of its green projects which have been designed in line with the company's Sustainability Charter, a pledge signed by ADNOC and its Group of Companies as a contribution to the international efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development and facing the current global challenges, particularly those facing the oil and gas sector.
ADNOC's stand at the WFES exhibition got overwhelming responses from enterprises and visitors, making it a grand success in this premier event. Sheikhs, senior officials, decision makers, industry executives and experts as well as scores of students visited the stand to acquaint themselves with the company's operations and activities.
In addition to the uniquely designed stand that grouped together the parent company and its 15 subsidiaries, ADNOC delegates took part in the conference and workshops to share insights, stimulate debate and network with experts from around the world.
Live presentations were made by environmental experts at the stand highlighting ADNOC's green initiatives and tackling issues related to sustainable energy.
Since its inception, ADNOC has contributed to laying down the foundations for the UAE's development by implementing a series of strategic development and expansion projects across the oil and gas sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. These carefully executed projects have served to launch and uphold the UAE's respected and globally competitive economy of today, whilst creating favourable conditions to promote sustainable development and prosperous living in our society.
While considering global trends in sustainability for the oil and gas sector, taking into account the environmental impact of its projects, ADNOC has adopted many initiatives in this regard and made tremendous efforts toward the consolidation of sustainable development and the availability of sustainable energy.
To name a few, these initiatives include the reduction of Carbon dioxide emissions in gas flaring, mechanisms, and means of preserving energy, the usage of natural gas and utilizing it as an alternative fuel for vehicles, and industrial projects.
