WAM Moroni, 20 Jan. 2013 (WAM) - President Ikililou Dhoinine Comoros has expressed profound thanks to the humanitarian and relief organisations in the UAE for offering assistance to his country.

He said the UAE was first country to answer appeal issued by the Government of Comoros for relieving population affected by flash floods last year.

President Dhoinine made his remarks as he received at the Presidential Palace Abdullah Mattar Al Mazrouie, UAE Ambassador to Yemen and non-resident Ambassador to Comoros, at the expiry of his tenure. The President of Comoros decorated the UAE envoy with the Order of the Green Crescent of Comoros in recognition of his efforts in bolstering bilateral relations.

On the other hand, Minister of External Relations and Cooperation Mohamed Bakri ben Abdoulfatah Charif hosted a dinner banquet in honour of the UAE ambassador, attended by ministers and members of the diplomatic corps.

Immediately after arriving Moroni, the envoy oversaw the distribution of food assistance offered by the Khalifa bin Zayed Foundation to needy families.
