WAM Algiers, 5th March 2013 (WAM) -- His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, held talks here today with Algeria's President Abdelaziz Bouteflika over ways of enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries and their people.
The Algerian President received, at Al-Shaab Palace, Sheikh Mohamed and his accompanying delegation. The delegation includes H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, in addition to a number of senior officials.
The two sides took note of the progress the Emirati-Algerian bonds were making, thanks to the tremendous support shown by leaders of the two countries.
Sheikh Mohamed said that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen to take its relations of cooperation with Algeria to new heights to promote mutual interests.
For his part, the Algerian head of state expressed his satisfaction at the level of progress in bilateral ties and affirmed his country's determination to push them forward to deliver benefits for the two brotherly countries and people.
As they exchanged cordial talks, Sheikh Mohamed and President Bouteflika expressed their pride at the historic bonds between the two countries and pledged to strengthen them in a manner that promotes mutual interests.
The talks also explored ways of strengthening economic and trade relations to ensure continuous coordination and cooperation for establishing partnerships in the industrial and commercial sectors. The two sides also discussed the prospects of sharing experiments and expertise in investment, economic and industrial sectors.
They also discussed the latest Arab, regional and international developments and exchanged views on a broad range of issues of mutual interest. They stressed the need to make every effort to realise peace, security and stability in the region.
President Bouteflika hosted a lunch banquet in honour of Sheikh Mohammed and his accompanying delegation.
Attending the meeting from the Algerian side were Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, Minister Plenipotentiary at the Algerian Defence Ministry Abdul Malik Guenaizia, Minister of Finance and Co-chairman of the UAE-Algeria Joint Ministerial Committee Karim Joudi, Minister of Industry, SMEs and Investment Promotion Sharif Rahmani and a number of senior officials.
Sheikh Mohamed arrived earlier today in Algeria on a two-day working and fraternal visit.
He was received upon arrival at Houari Boumedienne International Airport by the Speaker of Algeria's National Assembly, Abdul Qadir bin Saleh, the Speaker of Algeria's People's National Assembly, Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa, the Algerian Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, and a group of top Algerian officials.
