Belarus: UAE Delegation from the General Authority of Port Security in informative visit
WAM MINSK, June 23rd, 2013 (WAM) -- A UAE delegation representing the General Authority of Port Security has visited Minsk, capital of the Republic of Belarus, in order to be informed on the latest successful experiments in Port and Border management, as well as the latest technologies used in search and supervision.
Ali Mohammed bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council and Chairman of the General Authority for Port Security, and Chairman of the delegation, stressed the importance of the visit in increasing knowledge through observing and comparing various experiments in terms of border security.
Al Shamsi added that the visit provided an opportunity to discuss national security mechanisms and passengers and goods crossing procedures, praising the cooperation the delegation has received from the Belarus officials.
Jassim Mohammed Al Za'abi, Director of the General Authority for Port Security, stated that the delegation has visited some Belarus land-border centres as well as Minsk Airport to explore the mechanisms applied to searching and dealing with passengers. The visit also included a number of specialised companies in the border security field.
Al Za'abi added that the visit also included the Belarus Border Service Institute, where the delegation reviewed the various practical and academic specialisations offered by the institute, as well as the degrees offered. The purpose of the visit was to discuss possible fields of cooperation and academic exchange between the two countries.
Al Za'abi added that the delegation witnessed methods applied by the administration of the K9 Unit training, as well as a live demonstration of a search operation for drugs and harmful substances.
The delegation included a number of UAE officials from the General Authority of Port Security and other security establishments.
