WAM COLOMBO, July 4th, 2013 (WAM) -- Abdul Fattah Kazim Al-Mulla, the UAE Ambassador to Sri Lanka, has handed over a consignment of dates provided by the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) to the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs in Colombo.

The distribution is part of the annual donation strategy overseen by the RCA during the Holy Month of Ramadan, whereby dates are distributed to mosques all over the country.

The Sri Lankan Minister of Religious Affairs, Abdul Hameed Mohammed Fawzi, attended the event. He also extended his thanks and appreciation to the government and people of the UAE and particularly to the RCA for providing assistance to the Sri Lankan people.

He also praised the UAE humanitarian approach of providing support to friendly peoples under the prudent leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
