The meeting was the second of its kind held this year, following a request from the Republic of Belarus Administration.
The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate the frequency requirements of Belarusian satellite networks with the UAE's, in order to eliminate potential interference between the satellite networks of both administrations.
Ahmad Amin, Engineer, Space Services in the TRA, headed the UAE's delegation, which also featured representatives from Al Yah Satellite Communications (YAHSAT). The overall outcome of the meeting being mutually beneficial for all parties concerned.
"Building on the success of the previous meeting in May, the discussion with our counterparts in the Republic of Belarus was very productive. Coordinating our satellite networks is essential and reducing interference between operators is a core responsibility of the international team at the TRA. With that in mind, the UAE values its relationship with officials in Belarus and so too with our counterpart's right across the globe. Cooperation of this nature is essential to the development of ICT infrastructure both at home and internationally and we thank the Belarus Administration for hosting us," said Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General.
The core of the discussion centered on achieving coordination of relevant frequency bands used by both the UAE and Belarus.
At the close of the meeting, both UAE and Belarusian representatives expressed their satisfaction of the conclusions drawn. The meeting was deemed a success and all involved agreed to continue their cooperation going forward.
