SCAD releases Abu Dhabi Statistical Yearbook - 2013

WAM ABU DHABI, 7th October, 2013 (WAM) -- Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD) released today the electronic version of the Statistical Yearbook of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi - 2013.

In the foreword introducing the book, Butti Ahmed Mohammed Al Qubaisi commended this important publication and the efforts made in collecting data and compiling the indicators set forth in the book, which meets the needs of decision makers, policy planners, investors, businessmen, researchers and all other segments of data users.

The book sheds light on a whole range of development indicators in Abu Dhabi, over the past few years, tracking the progress achieved under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the unlimited support of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

He also noted that Abu Dhabi Statistical Yearbook - 2013 presents about 750 statistical indicators, compared with only 200 indicators in 2009, the year of inception of SCAD.

The book features new tables and updated information and figures that have been added in the context of SCAD's continued efforts to achieve a qualitative shift in terms of data coverage, accuracy and presentation, in a way that would facilitate the study and analysis of their implications for the future and in working out integrated plans and strategies that support the emirate's vision for sustainable development.

SCAD's Director General added that the release of Statistical Yearbook of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi - 2013, translates the Centre's awareness about the importance of timely availability of statistical data in decision- and policy making at all levels for the public and private sectors alike, noting that the new yearbook presents a wide range of indicators covering developments over the period (2005-2012) in all economic activities, including, trade, industry, and business, population and demography, social statistics, labor force statistics, agriculture, environment, etc.
