TOKYO, 22nd February, 2024 (WAM) -- The Nikkei stock index hit an all-time high Thursday, breaking the previous record set 34 years ago, as expectations grew for another year of record profits and Japan's return to a growth track.
According to Kyodo News, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average temporarily rose more than 760 points from Wednesday to 39,029.00 right after afternoon trading began, topping the previous intraday high of 38,957.44 marked in December 1989.
