Indonesian President-elect Prabowo to visit Japan from Tuesday

TOKYO, 1st April, 2024 (WAM) -- Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto will make a three-day visit to Japan from Tuesday, Japanese News Agency, Kyodo News, quoted a spokesman of Indonesia's Defence Ministry as saying on Monday.

Prabowo, the current defense minister, won the presidential election in February. He will travel to Japan in his capacity of defence minister following a visit to China that started Sunday, Brig. Gen. Edwin Adrian Sumantha told Kyodo News.

Edwin gave no further details including if the president will meet Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida or Defence Minister Minoru Kihara.

During his stay in China through Tuesday, Prabowo would meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, the spokesman and the Chinese Foreign Ministry have said.
