BEIJING, 4th July, 2024 (WAM) -- China is pushing forward with a unified standard system for its "vehicle-road-cloud integration" scheme to facilitate smart car operations in cities nationwide, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Wednesday.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), the Ministry, in collaboration with four other entities, has designated 20 cities, including prominent centres like Beijing and Shanghai, to participate in a pilot programme aimed at testing this new system. This initiative represents a significant step in promoting the commercialisation of intelligent connected vehicles.
The programme will advance the development of infrastructure supporting network connectivity, and will also promote the adoption of in-vehicle network terminals. It aims to facilitate seamless sharing of fundamental data and promote the integrated use of infrastructure, services, and platforms across different domains.
China plans to develop a unified standard of vehicle-road-cloud integration system for intelligent connected vehicles by 2026. This will support applications such as assisted and autonomous driving, smart traffic management solutions, and smart city developments across different scenarios, spanning cities and regions.
