TOKYO, 2nd September, 2024 (WAM) -- Shinkansen bullet trains between Tokyo and Hakata fully resumed operations Monday after nearly four days of disruptions due to slow-moving Typhoon Shanshan, according to Kyodo News.
The Tokaido Shinkansen Line between Tokyo and the western city of Osaka and the Sanyo Shinkansen Line connecting Osaka and Hakata in western Japan had been fully or partially suspended or operating with a reduced number of trains from late Thursday to Sunday.
Typhoon Shanshan weakened to a tropical storm on Sunday after being nearly stationary off the Pacific coast of central Japan, bringing heavy rains.
The Japan Meteorological Agency warned on Monday that there would be lightning and torrential rain from Hokkaido in northern Japan to the Tokai region in central Japan as atmospheric conditions are likely to be unstable.
