NEW DELHI, 5th October, 2024 (WAM) – Three South Asian nations – Bangladesh, India and Pakistan – are to take part in this year’s Al Suwaidi Festival in Riyadh, which will herald the arrival of the winter season in Saudi Arabia’s capital.
The 45-day festival, beginning on 12th October is part of “Riyadh Season,” conceptualised in 2024 as “one of the largest winter entertainment events in the world.”
An announcement by the Kingdom’s General Entertainment Authority, organisers of Riyadh Season, said, “The festivities capture the essence of Saudi Arabia, from its Najdi heritage to its present-day dynamism.”
The Authority was created as part of Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” to achieve the Kingdom’s economic, social and cultural diversification. The word Najdi comes from Najd, a region of Saudi Arabia renowned for its cultural heritage.
According to the Indian embassy in Riyadh, India’s participation in this year’s Al Suwaidi Festival will include musical performances, classical dances, entertainment shows, shopping bazaars and cuisine.
The festival will take place in the sprawling Al Suwaidi Park, which is situated in the Al Suwaidi residential area of Riyadh.
