TOKYO, 28th October, 2024 (WAM) -- Japan's ruling camp lost its majority in the House of Representatives in Sunday's election, Kyodo News reported.
Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba voiced eagerness to form a new government led by his party.
The ruling coalition secured 215 of the 465 seats in the chamber, sharply down from 288, missing its goal of at least retaining a majority.
Voter turnout stood at 53.84 percent, around two percentage points down from the previous election in 2021.
