SHANGHAI, 7th November, 2024 (WAM) -- Experts on Wednesday had an in-depth exchange of views on youth development at a sub-forum of the Hongqiao International Economic Forum in Shanghai, aiming to strengthen the cultivation of young people through enhanced international cooperation in education, research, and training.
China Central Television (CCTV) reports that the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, part of the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), is taking place in Shanghai alongside the expo, running until Sunday. The event has drawn over 260 prominent guests from political, business, and academic spheres.
The sub-forum, titled Globalisation and Youth Development: Creating a Shared Better Future, is the first to bring youth development into focus at the international forum.
Discussions centred on various themes, including ways to foster the innovation and creativity of young people, the opportunities and challenges they face, international exchanges and cooperation, and the development of young scientific and technological talent.
"We're working on a new partnership with the All-China Youth Federation, focusing on digital opportunities, entrepreneurship training, and upskilling. This collaboration could create millions more jobs for young people. The emphasis must be on revitalising rural areas and supporting communities, especially young people in marginalised or rural regions," said Leila Pakkala, Director of UNICEF's Supply Division.
