Celebrating UAE as Guest of Honour, 20th Arab Media Forum kicks off in Kuwait

KUWAIT, 10th May, 2025 (WAM) – The 20th edition of the Arab Media Forum officially began here today under the theme “Media Challenges amid Technological Advancement and Digital Transformation,” held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait.

The event runs until May 12, with enthusiastic participation from ministers of information, media professionals, journalists, academics, and content creators.

This year, the forum honours the United Arab Emirates as the Guest of Honour, recognising the UAE’s prominent status and the excellence of its national media, which serves as an inspiring model of professional, advanced, and impactful media. The UAE’s media is rooted in firm national values that have helped promote the principles of human fraternity, peace, and tolerance, while delivering media messages through innovative tools based on advanced technology and artificial intelligence to produce responsible and purposeful media content.

The UAE is participating with a high-level media delegation representing both the public and private sectors. This reflects the country’s strategic direction to build a future-focused media model grounded in innovation and advanced technology, as well as its commitment to supporting regional and international media events. This effort aims to strengthen the role of Arab media amid the rapid global digital transformations.

Today's sessions began with the launch of the “Youth Forum”, organised in cooperation with the Public Authority for Youth, Ruqi Club, and Mahara Club in Kuwait. The forum featured the participation of content creators from the UAE and across the Arab world, who shared their experiences in creating responsible media content that meets the aspirations of modern audiences.

Madi Al-Khamis, Secretary-General of the Arab Media Forum, told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the UAE was chosen as the Guest of Honour for this edition due to the remarkable progress and development of its national media, which aligns with the forum’s theme this year—technological development, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.

He emphasised that UAE media is now among the most advanced, particularly in its use of cutting-edge technology, AI tools, and its ability to adapt to the latest global digital trends across various sectors, especially in media.

Al-Khamis noted that the forum’s sessions focus on the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapid digital shifts, exploring how advanced technologies can be leveraged to enhance the presence and global reach of Arab media. The sessions also emphasize the role of media in supporting cultural diversity and preserving Arab identity.

In its current edition, the Arab Media Forum offers comprehensive insights into the future of Arab media in the era of the digital revolution. It also features discussions on how Arab media institutions can adopt AI and virtual reality technologies to improve content production and distribution, while combating fake news and media misinformation.
