Austria, U.S. discuss transatlantic relations

VIENNA, 11th May, 2025 (WAM) – Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger valued the important role the United States played in achieving peace and reconstruction in Austria and across Europe after World War II. She also extended an invitation to her American counterpart Marco Rubio to visit Austria.

According to an official statement from the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Meinl-Reisinger held a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The discussion focused on the importance of transatlantic relations, issues of security and defense, efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, potential future cooperation in the Western Balkans, and the role of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
