ABU DHABI, 29th May, 2025 (WAM) -- TAQA Distribution reaffirmed its commitment to developing Emirati talent during its participation in the World Utilities Congress 2025, highlighting its flagship initiative, “ETLAQ”. The programme aims to equip a new generation of Emirati graduates, technicians, and students with the skills needed to lead in the energy and utilities sector.
In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Haitham Al Subaihi, Executive Vice President of People and Culture at TAQA Distribution, described “ETLAQ” as a strategic pillar in the company’s efforts to empower young national talent through a comprehensive programme of professional and leadership development tailored to the evolving demands of the sector.
Launched in 2020 as “ETLAQ Graduate Programme,” it has trained over 250 graduates across four cohorts, focusing on enhancing personal capabilities and leadership skills alongside specialised technical training.
He added that the company expanded the initiative this year with a specialised track for technicians, offering intensive, hands-on training tailored to fieldwork in energy transmission and distribution sectors. This move reflects TAQA's Distribution focus on aligning workforce development with real-world operational demands.
The programme is supported by strategic partnerships with leading academic and vocational institutions, including the Higher Colleges of Technology and the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute, helping to prepare technical graduates for the workforce.
This year, TAQA Distribution also introduced two new tracks: a summer internship for university students and an alternative national service programme. Both are designed to offer early exposure to the energy industry and boost long-term employability.
Looking ahead, the company is finalising plans to expand “ETLAQ” into Al Dhafra region, supporting its broader strategy to promote balanced development across the Emirate.
