BERLIN, 17th February, 2026 (WAM) -- An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude struck the South Sandwich Islands region at 03:36 GMT on Tuesday, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said.
The epicentre, at a depth of 10.0 kilometres, was initially located at 57.35 degrees south latitude and 30.30 degrees west longitude.
