Saudi Defence Ministry: Drone intercepted, destroyed in Empty Quarter heading toward Shaybah field

RIYADH, 9th March, 2026 (WAM) -- Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence announced today that a drone was intercepted and destroyed over the Empty Quarter.

Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence Major General Turki Al-Maliki as saying that a drone was intercepted and destroyed in the Empty Quarter while heading toward the Shaybah field.
