Mexico, Peru resume diplomatic relations after nine-month break

MEXICO CITY, 8th August, 2026 (WAM) -- Mexico and Peru announced on Friday the resumption of diplomatic relations after a break dating back to November 2025.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministries of both countries said the resumption of relations was based on the historic bonds of fraternity, friendship and cooperation between the two countries, while stressing respect for international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
