PARIS, 13th August, 2026 (WAM) -- French authorities evacuated around 1,200 people from a campsite after two wildfires broke out near the coast in northern France.
Authorities in the northern Pas-de-Calais department, which borders the Strait of Dover, said one of the fires had been brought under control, while conditions remained unfavourable for tackling the second blaze.
They added that access to the site remained difficult as the fire continued to spread unhindered towards the south.
