LONDON, 23rd August, 2026 (WAM) -- Newly promoted Hull City pulled off a stunning 2-0 victory over Manchester United as five opening-day fixtures got the new Premier League season underway on Saturday.
The Tigers marked their top-flight return in spectacular fashion, stunning United to secure all three points on home soil. Elsewhere, Ipswich Town edged past Sunderland 2-1, while Everton turned in a clinical performance to beat Crystal Palace 2-0.
Leeds United also got off to a winning start by pipping Nottingham Forest 1-0, while Brentford handed Tottenham Hotspur a heavy 3-0 defeat.
The opening round of fixtures continues on Sunday, with title holders Manchester City hosting Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium, Brighton taking on Aston Villa, and Newcastle United welcoming Liverpool to St James' Park.
