NEW YORK, 23rd September, 2026 (WAM) -- US stocks settled near record highs at the close of trading on Tuesday, in a quiet session that coincided with a renewed decline in oil prices.
The Associated Press reported that the S&P 500 index fell by less than 0.1%, remaining just 0.4% below the record high set last month.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 185 points—or 0.54%—while the Nasdaq rose 0.5%, extending the record high it had set on Monday.
