NEW YORK, 23rd September, 2026 (WAM) -- Khalilur Rahman, President of the General Assembly’s 81st session on Tuesday urged the UN not to fall further behind on artificial intelligence.
He warned that AI is already embedded in critical systems worldwide and called for “prudent and reliable guardrails” developed with scientific input from outside government.
“We cannot allow an arms race for control of AI to carry us over the precipice,” he said.
