European shares close higher

BRUSSELS, 6th October, 2026 (WAM) -- European shares closed higher on Monday, while French stocks fell to a six-month low amid fiscal concerns.

The pan-European STOXX 600 ended 0.4% higher, after touching a four-month low last week as global bond yields rose.

France's CAC 40 fell 0.8%, posting the steepest decline among regional peers, while Spain's financials-heavy IBEX gained 1.1%.

Most STOXX 600 sectors closed higher, led by mining stocks, which rose 1.5%.
