NEW YORK, 9th October, 2026 (WAM) -- Major U.S. stock indexes closed mixed on Thursday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq falling while the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged higher.
The S&P 500 declined 36.07 points, or 0.46%, to close at 7,765.70, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 341.59 points, or 1.24%, to 27,197.10.
In contrast, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 45.68 points, or 0.09%, to finish at 51,225.48.
