ABU DHABI, 11th November, 2023 (WAM) -- The Global Media Congress (GMC) signed a cooperation agreement with the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR), under which the centre becomes a "Strategic Knowledge Partner" for the second edition of the Global Media Congress, which begins next Tuesday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).
The three-day event is organised in partnership with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
In light of its partnership with the GMC, the ECSSR will study the white paper to be published by the second edition of the event to come up with recommendations and proposals that will be presented during seminars attended by specialists and experts in the field of the media industry.
Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM) and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee for the Global Media Congress, welcomed the agreement with the ECSSR, describing it as a scientific and intellectual edifice with well-known contributions in the field of research, studies and decision-making support.
He noted that this agreement would contribute to utilising the outcomes of the Global Media Congress, including research papers, recommendations and initiatives presented by the ECSSR to support the media industry at the local, regional and international levels.
For his part, Dr. Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director-General of ECSSR, underscored the importance of this partnership with WAM which aims to promote scientific and research activity, especially with the success of the inaugural edition of the Global Media Congress.
Dr. Al Nuaimi said that since its first session, which was held last year, this annual event has become a vital platform for studying the latest developments and trends in the media sector, noting the importance of focusing in the current session on the issue of sustainability, in conjunction with the UAE hosting COP28 at the end of this month, and the declaration of 2023 as the “Year of Sustainability”.
The centre’s participation during the event includes organising “strategic dialogue sessions” at its pavilion. In these sessions, participants from ECSSR will discuss the four main themes of the conference, which are Sustainability; Sports Media; Innovation and latest technologies in Media; and Youth, Education and the Future of Media.
The centre will also organise a panel discussion on the role of think tanks in studying climate change issues, featuring prominent researchers and academics.
The ECSSR's pavilion will feature a collection of its recent publications in a number of fields, in addition to introducing the centre's role and contributions to supporting the decision-making process, preparing specialised studies and research, community service and enhancing the culture of scientific research.
