ABU DHABI, 14th November, 2023 (WAM) -- Claudia Victoria Nicolae, Director-General of AGERPRES, the Romanian National News Agency, has affirmed that the convening of the second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC) reinforces the UAE's central position in the media industry.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of her participation in the currently-running GMC, Claudia said, “We are proud to participate in this event, organised for the second consecutive year, with the presence of more than 13,500 participants, 5,500 delegates, and 200 CEOs from international media institutions.”
Claudia emphasised that the congress addresses compelling topics, including environmental journalism and climate change, to foster international media discussions to create a more sustainable future.
She pointed out that the congress is also focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence and modern technology on media operations, exploring ways in which advanced technologies can inspire creativity among the new generation of journalists and media professionals.
Claudia emphasised the necessity of leveraging new technology in the service of the media sector. She noted that the Romanian National News Agency collaborated with the National Institute for Information Technology Research in Italy to create a set of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), featuring 35 images from the agency's historical archives. The entire collection was successfully sold.
The three-day event is organised in partnership with WAM, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
