CAIRO, 28th November, 2023 (WAM) -- The Emirates News Agency (WAM) participated in the Egypt Media Forum under the theme “A Journalism-less World”, which took place in Cairo last Sunday with the participation of leading media figures, experts, and specialists from around the globe.
Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, Director-General of WAM, emphasised the significance of understanding the audience's dynamic engagement with rapidly advancing technologies. These advancements shape usage patterns and preferences, allowing media organisations to effectively adapt by producing diverse content that caters to the cognitive needs of diverse societal groups.
Alrayssi highlighted WAM's progress in this area, particularly in employing cutting-edge digital technology and artificial intelligence to generate content that aligns with institutional goals and enhances news coverage.
He emphasised that the current technological landscape and its rapid evolution necessitate a shift for media organisations to embrace the future of the media industry. This is particularly important for those institutions or news agencies that continue to operate in a traditional manner that is out of synchronisation with rapidly evolving technologies and highly intelligent software, where physical, virtual, and augmented worlds intersect to enrich media practices and human experiences.
In another panel discussion, Abdullah Abdulkarim, Acting Executive Director of the News Content Sector at WAM, participated in a discussion on the 'Future of News: Key Changes'. He stressed the need for journalists to stay abreast of advancements in the media working environment, particularly the capabilities offered by artificial intelligence software in creating news content.
He highlighted various personal, professional, and digital skills required by professionals in different journalistic fields, particularly proficiency in handling and analysing big data, producing high-quality content, and discerning between misinformation and accurate information in the era of metaverses and artificial intelligence algorithms.
