ABU DHABI, 28th November, 2023 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Office of Development and Martyrs Families Affairs at the Presidential Court, has attended the 2nd WorldSkills Asia Abu Dhabi competition, being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
During the event, Sheikh Theyab met with students, professionals and young innovators, who are among 500 participants from 32 member and guest countries competing in 28 technical and vocational skills competitions. These included talented UAE Nationals from across the UAE, who showcased their expertise alongside high-calibre Asian youth.
During the tour, Sheikh Theyab was accompanied by Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Founder and President of WorldSkills Asia and Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET).
Organised by ACTVET, the WorldSkills Asia Abu Dhabi event hosts competitions across several fields, including construction and building technology; creative arts and fashion; information and communication technology; manufacturing and engineering technology; social and personal services; transportation and logistics; and junior skills.
Held every two years, the second edition of the event runs until 29th November 2023, attracting participants from member states and global partners from the public and private sectors to nurture talent and establish international benchmarks for technical and vocational skills and proficiency throughout Asia.
