BEIJING, 3rd February, 2024 (WAM) -- China on Saturday sent a group of 11 satellites into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Carried by a Long March 2C carrier rocket, the 11 satellites of the Geely 02 constellation lifted off from the launch site at 07:37 (Beijing time) and entered the preset orbit. As China Central Television reported. This was the 508th flight mission of the Long March rocket series.
Owned by GeeSpace, a subsidiary of Geely Technology Group, the satellites were the company’s second dispatch to build its planned constellation, the Geely Future Mobility Constellation project. It is the world's first commercial integrated constellation for communication, navigation, and remote sensing.
According to the plan, the Constellation will consist of 240 satellites, with the first phase of 72 satellites expected to be placed in orbit by 2025. The second phase will consist of 168 satellites.
