Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, Mexico's Ministry of Agriculture sign MoU

ABU DHABI, 1st May, 2024 (WAM) -- The General Secretariat of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the United Mexican States, for the organisation of the Third Mexico International Date Palm Festival, from 19th -22nd of October 2024.

The signing ceremony took place remotely on Tuesday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture in Mexico and the Award’s General Secretariat Head Office in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Luis Alfonso De Alba Gongora, Ambassador of Mexico to the UAE; Sultan Al-Taie, Representative of the UAE Embassy in Mexico; Santiago José Arguello Campos, General Coordinator of Mexico's Agriculture of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary-General of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation.

Ambassador Gongora highlighted the pioneering position that the UAE has achieved in the development of the date palm cultivation and date production sector at the national, regional and international levels, which serves to build bridges of cooperation between the two countries to enhance food security and drive sustainable development.

For his part, Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid explained that this MoU confirms the international credibility achieved by the Award, thanks to the guidance and support of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and the continuous follow-up of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of the Award's Board of Trustees. This has helped establish it as the most significant international platform for building partnerships related to the sector at the national, regional and international levels.
