DUBAI, 1st May, 2024 (WAM) -- The Executive Office for Control and Non-proliferation (EOCN) has held discussion sessions in partnership with the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) and the EU P2P (Partner-to-Partner) Export Control Programme, aimed at exchanging experiences and reviewing the best practices in the control of exports of armored vehicles.
The discussions were attended by a delegation of government institutions of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan concerned with the control of trade in goods, representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Security Industry Regulatory Agency, and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security in the UAE.
In his opening speech of the meeting, Talal Al Tunaiji, EOCN Director, highlighted the UAE's efforts in strengthening the export control system and maintaining compliance with relevant international standards. He also commended the role of the European Union and the BAFA office for their support of projects and programs in the region that enhance the improvement of export controls, including armoured vehicles, and for their efforts in other areas such as legislation and enforcement.
In addition, Al Tunaiji emphasised the importance of partnerships at the national, regional and international levels, as well as adopting best practices and adhering to the requirements of international conventions as one of the main pillars for achieving compliance in export control. “This also contributes to advancing comprehensive development, and enhances the inputs of the economy,” he added.
The sessions included valuable insights from officials and experts in the field of armoured vehicle export control, aimed at enhancing awareness and capacity building of participating institutions.
The meeting is part of a series of programs organized by the EOCN Office to review experiences and best practices that promote compliance in export control.
