ROME, 15th May, 2024 (WAM) -- The European Commission said in its Spring Economic Forecast on Wednesday that it expects Italy's GDP to grow by 0.9 percent this year, up from 0.7 percent in the previous forecast, Italian news agency ANSA reported.
The Commission expects the Italian economy to grow by 1.1 percent in 2025, down from 1.2 percent previously. Inflation is expected to come in at 1.6 percent this year and rise to 1.9 percent in 2025.
The European Commission forecasts that Italy's deficit-to-GDP ratio will fall from 7.4 percent in 2023 to 4.4 percent in 2024 and then rise to 4.7 percent in 2025. It expects Italy's public debt-to-GDP ratio to rise from 137.3 percent in 2023 to 138.6 percent in 2024 and 141.7 per cent in 2025.
